Skybuilt Power Urges European Defense Agency and
NATO to Increase the Use of Renewable Energy to Save Lives,
Reduce Logistics, and Cut Operating Costs
ARLINGTON,
VA. | April 5, 2011. In a keynote address today to the European Defense Agency’s (EDA’s) Conference on Sustainable Energy for EU Crisis Management in Budapest, SkyBuilt’s President and CEO, Dave Muchow, urged EDA and NATO to rapidly increase the use of currently available renewable, proven, renewable energy solutions. These systems can be deployed immediately to save lives, reduce logistics, and cut operating costs.
War zone logistics use up to
one half of all military personnel. For every 24 fuel convoys
in Iraq, one soldier is injured or killed by enemy action.
A one percent reduction in fuel use would save over 6,000 convoys
and many lives.
Muchow called for a fast track
program to set goals for a percentage use of renewable energy,
prioritize, focus, and immediately deploy commercially available
products to jump start the deployment of renewables and compare
their many advantages to diesel generators. “Once field commanders see these products and their advantages the ball will start rolling. The problem can be studied for many more years or solved. Like Nike would say, ‘Just do it’.”
About SkyBuilt Power.
SkyBuilt, the leading renewable
energy product integrator for rapidly deployable renewable
energy power systems, has a broad range of commercially available
renewable energy systems, from 500W to micro-grid capable systems.
Systems range from suitcase, skids, and trailers to containers
and micro-grid solutions. These proven, rugged, mobile or fixed,
rapidly deployable hybrid renewable systems include solar,
wind, battery backup, and generator options, operate on or
off-grid, and have been saving up to 97% on fuel with the military
in the field for years. They can pay for themselves in months
to a few years in operating cost savings.
SkyBuilt’s pre-packaged power solutions include telecommunications power, Army Tactical Operations centers and Forward Operating Base power, USAF (renewable airfield power with Lockheed Martin), and power for green telecom towers, DOE, and Department of Homeland Security solutions. Systems also are ideal for intelligence, disaster relief, health clinics, crisis management, water pumping water treatment and sustainable economic development.
